Making Your Custom Front License Plates Count

By Andrew Foster

People are concerned about labels. That is a painful truth that they do not mind to admit. Everything they own needs to reflect the type of person they are. Or at least, they want their material things to convey their convictions. Most often than not, they do this through personalizing almost everything they can, including the plates on their vehicles.

This is seen in everything they own, that they want personalized. These days, you rarely see cars without custom front license plates. This proves to be true, in places such as Reading, Pennsylvania. The fascination for vanity plates, as they are sometimes called, does not end.

Our fascination with them will never stop, although the messages, and the type of culture it gives off, may change. You sometimes wonder what drives someone to do this, or how important people consider it to be. That is understandable, since the rest of this country is pretty much doing the same thing.

Other times, it is a message you need to put across, a cause you support, anything you might be proud of. You can apply for this at any Secretary of State branch office. When approved, these license plates are mailed to you within 45 days. It comes after receiving a receipt for pending approval on a chosen combination, which is six to eight characters.

This goes for other vehicles as well, like motor homes, cars, pickups, vans, motorcycles, hearses and motor homes. They must not have the same combination as those of regular licensed plates. That is not allowed. It is important that your customized version must should be different from the others.

You are stuck with the message for a year, or have to pay added immense fees to change the plate entirely. Other than that, you have the privilege of paying an extra seventy eight dollars a year to retain that status on top of the initial ninety eight dollar fee for getting it.

Just remember to avoid the designs or message that half, or majority will disagree with, in any form. No one would want their car to be the subject of differing views, especially political. Do not embellish being vain by putting your name. Even for teenage girls, that would look like screaming and ridiculous.

The low number ones signify prestige. People would go thinking you are somebody, or that you know someone very, very important in the society. Sometimes, you use it to attract members of opposite sex. This is a screaming 6 to eight character that does not limit itself by the letters or numbers alone. There is more to the message than just the combination.

Since you will be paying for your plate to be customized, try to make it count. Something good enough, not just for vanity. Make it matter as much as how you appear when others look at you the first time. Use it as a way of making a good, lasting impression, not as something to annoy the rest. That would make a big difference, in a society that demands everyone to conform.
