Key Choices When Picking A Filter Press

By Virginia Peterson

Filter presses has made a wonderful improvement in managing the waste and separating the liquids and solids. Many industries have adapted the effectiveness of this equipment and many manufacturers have created various styles and designs that are more efficient compared to the old ones. The best way to determine the right Filter Press for an application is for companies to invest their time in doing research to find the best one that will cater their needs and applications.

Plate design. When the equipment was innovated a few years back, the design was simplistic which is composed of rectangular frames that is in between two solid plates with grooves or channels that will allow the liquid to be removed. Any solid material which is accumulated on the filtration cloths will be held between the flat plates and frames. When it is separated all the solids will simply fall down from the frame.

Each plate has corner holes being milled through the whole thickness. When its being clamped together, these holes will act as pipes or pathways for the water to exit on one of each end that was stacked on the structural plates. The piping that is mounted in the structural plates which are mobile or stationary plats will direct the water into collection tanks or clarifier tanks.

Manual cleaning with water is the easiest way to extend the lifespan of cloths. Hoses with medium volumes and pressure can be used to remove any buildup on the surfaces especially in areas such as stay boss and sealing. A fully automated system is much more effective than manual labor. These systems use high pressures of showers that will automatically position themselves on each plate and be programmed to efficiently clean the cloth at different intervals of cycles or times.

In side beam types, it has an opening mechanism which is accomplished by a stroke of hydraulic compression cylinder or a separate opening mechanism which can be opened by a single movement. The plate is being attached with mechanical linkage or short chains which will allow multiple plates that will be opened in one movement.

If presses are designed with feeding from both ends, there is a possibility to finish a core blow. After the filtration stage is over and the feed pumped has already stopped, wet slurries will remain at the core holes on the plates. The next sequence would be a core blow to complete the removal of remaining slurries before the plates would be opened.

To ensure that maintenance is properly done, take note of these guidelines. The filter cloths, gland systems on feed pumps, slurry feed pumps and all the pipes must be drained, cleaned and opened. Mobile plates must be closed thoroughly but should not be pressurized. The cloth washing system should be blown dry, cleaned and drained.

Individuals who wants to purchase filter presses must conduct some research first before purchasing one. Many companies and manufacturers are in this industry and each one of them are selling different equipment for various applications. You must determine the right one from different selections to purchase the right press for your application.

Prices will vary from one manufacturer or brand to another. With the help of research, individuals will find out which price rates are affordable for their budgets. Shopping around and checking out different equipment will make it easy for you to find the right one.
