Legal Paternity Testing Results Protect The Innocent

By Dennis Ross

Often life is full of twists and turns that are unforeseen. While some may reveal an unexpected surprise, other may require a course of action in order for a resolution to take place. Some are due to choices and when choices result in new life, the first step is to talk to someone that works at a legal paternity testing office.

These days, it is the norm to engage in a casual relationship that involves intercourse. However, when the unexpected happens and there is a planned birth in the near future, the man deserves answers. There was once a time when couples just accepted that any child conceived was biologically theirs, even if appeared to be a longshot.

Since then, the sexual revolution and court system has changed when it comes to parental duties and humanity. While people are exercising more freedom in relationships, there are also more consequences when one, or both, parties decides to not be monogamous. Even with consensual encounters, there is a lot of risk involved and can greatly affect the bank account of the biological father.

A long time ago, having a child outside of a marriage was uncommon and an unwed mother had little ground to stand on legally. This meant that getting pregnant by any man she was not married to would not automatically entitle her to compensation. Eventually, the courts would recognize blood test results, although sometimes the numbers were not always accurate. Then came DNA testing, which not only gave strong numbers but also showed other genetic factors concerning the child.

Women should note that positive DNA test results are often the only way to establish a paternity suit. Men ordered to pay child support are legally obligated until the child becomes an adult. The exact age varies by state where circumstances like choosing advanced education can impact how much longer payments continue. If payments are missed, a court may also add on interest and other fees.

In cases where the birth mother has lost contact with the biological father, it is best they use the test to determine the health status of their child. Being genetically disposed to a chronic disease could have a huge impact on their life. When a healthcare practitioner has this data on record, they can diagnose them better and prescribe a sound cure.

Taking a paternity test can also save the man money. Though not pleasant to think about, some predatory females use their pregnancy to financially attach themselves to a man and his assets. This is not only common with wealthy men but those who have a regular job yet have the resources to help raise a child. There have been some incidents where courts have been harsher towards men who do not make a lot of money in terms of a monthly payment amount.

Yet, the most important factor here is the child and their rights, as well as their biological family, if possible. Their genetic makeup often has a big influence on the choices they make as they children become adults. Physical and psychological ailments that have been inherited can be better diagnosed by a doctor or specialist when the facts are on record.
